We work hard to keep the dance experience fun and organized so keeping you informed is one of our goals. Please read all emails and handout information. If you have any questions about any of the information, we encourage you to contact us during business hours or by email. "Like" the Showcase Dance Centre page on Facebook and Twitter (ShowcaseDanceNC) for additional information about events.
The majority of our students are elementary to high school age. Our youngest dancers start as early as 2 1/2 years old (they should be 3 by January of the dance year) and should be working on potty training and comfortable with being away from their mother for the duration of the class. We also have a variety of classes for adults.
Three year olds work on listening skills and following directions. They begin developing basic motor skills such as balance, coordination, rhythm and mimicking an instructor’s movement. Dancing also helps the mental maturity of a child, helping them to become self-motivated and confident. It takes a good studio with strong beliefs and good teachers with their heart in what they do to make all of this happen and Showcase Dance Centre has done it and will continue to improve and excel!
Yes, we have a performing Dance Company made up of Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby and Diamond Teams. Participation in the Dance Company occurs by invitation and/or audition, with the teaching faculty and a panel of judges determining annually those students who exhibit the dedication, attitude and proficiency to represent the studio in public performances and competitions. In addition to attending classes several nights per week, Company members perform in shows, competitions and workshops regionally and nationally. If you are interested in the SDC competition company, please inquire about additional information, we encourage all students to audition.
We have classes year round, however our dance season begins mid-August and runs through June like the school year. It is of the student’s best interest to start at the beginning of the season, however we will accept new students later in the year (please call or stop by to see if class space is available). We also offer summer camps and classes.
You can register online by clicking the register button beside the class you would like to register for on our classes page. This will take you through the registration process.
Tuition is due by the 1st of each month and is late after the 10th. After the 10th of the month a $15.00 late fee will be charged to your account for each month late. Payments can be made by credit card, check or cash.
Classes are still in session on teacher workdays unless otherwise posted.
In case of inclement weather, there will be a message on the our web site or our Facebook page pertaining to the classes. However if you feel that it is not safe to travel during these times, we encourage that you stay home.
Acrobatics Arts is a set standard professional cirriculum to promote technique and progession for acrobatic dance. Acrobatic Arts starts at the very beginning, we teach proper placementand technique so students will have the building blocks to progress safely and quickly from one level to the next. Dancers who train through Acrobatic Arts have balanced development, are stronger, more flexible and fearless. Studios that implement this program will see dancers with more skills, who have fewer accidents, and are less likely to develop chronic injuries.
