Why dance during a pandemic?

Dance is an extension and expression of who we are as human beings which allows us to share emotions that increase our sense of community and connection. Kids are feeling. Expression is essential. Dance never stops.

Dance is proven to improve moods, mental health and cognitive skills.

My child really wants to be on stage this year. What if there is a shutdown?

Trust us when we say we want all kids on stage this year. Performance companies, studios  and competitions have learned a lot through this time. Our dancers will be sure to have their their opportunity to perform this year in some capacity. This may be our typical stage performance or a more intimate gathering per class. Time only knows.

What is this teaching my child?

Never give up. Change can be good. Dancing = Learning & Growing for the future. Learn to be flexible, adjust and be positive in every situation. We are in this together.

Why dance at a studio?

Dance studios can limit the number of students and create a safe environment. Even if school is out, we can finish our season. If schools close this is a good way to ensure your child is still engaging in physical activity.

What safety cautions are you taking?

We are following CDC and state and local guidelines.

  • NEW... Air Cleaning Systems in each dance room and in hallway complete  with Pre-filter to capture initial dust and allergen particles, Activated Carbon Filter to control and prevent the growth of bacteria, germs and mold, UV-C Light to enhance the elimination of airborne germs.
  • Masks are REQUIRED in the common area for everyone over the age of 5 and highly encouraged for those younger. (Masks are recommended while dancing and around anyone you do not live in the same household with) We continue to follow state and local guidelines. These are constantly changing, please read the signs on the doors for the most current information.
  • Temperature checks upon arrival
  • Limited class sizes (9 students max classroom).
  • Studios are taped off in a grid pattern to separate students.
  • Studio lobbies are closed and all classes are drop off and pick during the the first 5 and last 5 minutes of class only. Parents are to stay with their dancer until they are permitted to go into their classroom, at that point we ask that you leave to clear the lobby areas. Please enter the studio 5 minutes before the start and end of scheduled class time.
  • Hand sanitizer provided in multiple areas and each classroom. Hand washing is encouraged.
  • Teachers will be wearing mask at all times.
  • Constant cleaning of all areas, etc.
  • In the event we can not continue in person classes, classes will continue on zoom during the same class times and at the same class rates.

We are prepared to be with our dancers through it all!

What can I expect my 3 year old to learn?

How do I staying informed with what is going on at the studio?

How do I staying informed with what is going on at the studio?

Three year olds work on listening skills and following directions. They begin developing basic motor skills such as balance, coordination, rhythm and mimicking an instructor’s movement. Dancing also helps the mental maturity of a child, helping them to become self-motivated and confident. It takes a good studio with strong beliefs and good teachers with their heart in what they do to make all of this happen and Showcase Dance Centre has done it and will continue to improve and excel!

What is Acrobatic Arts?

What is the age range of students at Showcase Dance Centre?

Acrobatics Arts is a set standard professional cirriculum to promote technique and progession for acrobatic dance. Acrobatic Arts starts at the very beginning, we teach proper placementand technique so students will have the building blocks to progress safely and quickly from one level to the next. Dancers who train through Acrobatic Arts have balanced development, are stronger, more flexible and fearless. Studios that implement this program will see dancers with more skills, who have fewer accidents, and are less likely to develop chronic injuries.

Recital & Recital Fee We encourage all students to perform in our end of year recital, so that they have the opportunity to display all that they have learned during the year.

1. Recital Fee: The recital fee covers the cost of the auditorium and allows students to invite as many guests as they like by eliminating ticket sales. If your dancer withdraws from classes after February 28, the recital fee will not be refunded.

2. Opting Out of Recital: Students must participate in recital for all classes or not participate in the recital at all. Students cannot pick and choose particular classes for recital. Students and parents are responsible for informing SDC in writing no later than October 31, if a student is not going to participate in recital. Notice must be provided directly to the office.

Absences & Inclement Weather Missed Classes: If a student misses more than 1 class, please contact the office so that the instructor is aware of the circumstances. There are no refunds for missed classes.

Excessive Absences: Students with excessive absences may be pulled from the recital dance with no refund. This is at teacher discretion.

Waiting & Lobby Guidelines Parking Lot: Please NO double parking (Double parking is where you park directly behind someone.) and NO blocking the side driveways, there is an additional parking area in the rear of the building. The Veterinarian office is not our parking lot so please be respectful and not block them in.

Student Drop Off: Students should arrive to class 5 minutes early and should be prepared for class with shoes and a trip to the potty to cut down on any trips during class. Please walk your student in to make sure they get into class and to see if there is any information that you may need on the board.

Student Pick Up: Parents must arrive on time to pick up their students. Parents must come inside to pick up their children. We will have students waiting in the hallway for parents to pick up.

Food and Drinks: Please keep food, drinks and gum to a minimum. You are required to clean up after eating/drinking in the studio at all times. This includes throwing away any trash, sweeping up crumbs, wiping and cleaning up any spills. Please help by doing your part to keep our studio nice and clean for you and others.
